A Handmade Holiday 2013 — Snooze Dog Bed

handmadeholiday2013

Today’s Handmade Holiday post is a Special Edition, featuring a project that was specially made for Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores to launch Pellon®’s line of Pet Bed Inserts. Who else could we possibly have asked to create such a special dog bed but Erin Erickson of Dog Under My Desk;). Erin is known for her easy-to-follow patterns and her well written blog featuring tips & tutorials, as well as for her two adorable yorkies.

Erin wanted to create a bed that featured a bit of appliqué (great opportunity to sneak in some EZ-Steam™ II) and also converted our insert into a boxed-corner bed. We love the fabric that she used and her appliqué would put any pup into a sleepy state (heck, it puts us into a sleepy state!)

The project is available as a tear sheet at select Jo-Ann stores, anywhere that our Pet Bed Inserts can be found. Just look for this:

Erin’s pup Sammy is front and center on this one, so of course Sammy had to make a store visit… both to see her face in ‘lights’ and greet her adoring fans. From what we can tell, she fully approves of the Pet Beds and looks amazingly cute doing so;).

ErinEricksonWhen Erin started writing PDF sewing patterns, the name Dog Under My Desk just seemed appropriate. Her Yorkies really do sleep under her desk all day (and night) while she designs, endlessly prototypes, and photographs her bag patterns.

She’s a geek, which translates well into the sewing world. She likes the technical side of sewing – accurate seams, math, figuring out construction, taking thousands of pictures while creating PDF patterns and tutorials. All of those pictures and obsessively detailed
instructions help to make your project a success, whether you are still learning how to sew or have years of experience. And she promises, zippers are not scary!
