Today’s feature project comes from a brand new Project Designer for Pellon, Nancy Spaulding of Baby Rozen Design. We are so thrilled to welcome her to the team and can’t wait to see all of the gorgeous creations that she’ll contribute. Nancy had the opportunity to work with both the 1-Sided and 2-Sided Fusible versions of our Flex-Foam™. You can read all about what she thought over on her blog today!

The Jackson Nap Mat

Have you been following along with the Fusible Flex-Foam™ Blog Tour? We’ve been having so much fun this week and have absolutely adored the new patterns and projects that have come from our fabulous line-up of bloggers. There are so many great uses for the Fusible Flex-Foam — we just know that this tour is only the tip of the iceberg. We’re truly looking forward to seeing what you all make!

FusibleFlexFoam-EBlast

Today, we’re showcasing a project of our own — a little preview actually, since the full project will be available on Tuesday on The Stitch (Hancock Fabrics’ Blog) — The Jackson Nap Mat. This one is a great ‘back-to-school’ project, though it’s really intended for kiddos who are daycare/preschool age. My daughter is 23 months old and just started a new daycare this week. She still takes one long nap in the middle of the afternoon and has been out of the pack-n-play and on her very own nap mat for a few months now. She loves it and gets excited that she has a place that is all her own to snuggle and snooze.

The Jackson Nap Mat - by Pellon Projects

Our second is on the way in November, a baby boy, and though it’s a little premature, I couldn’t help but craft this nap mat for him. The Flex-Foam™ provides just the right amount of cushion, the flannel fabrics create the cozy, the handy elastic closures make it super portable and the name appliqué makes it personal and unique. I’m a little bit in love with this one!

We miss you Minneapolis!

A friend of ours recently mentioned the ‘Market Hangover’ and we think that’s pretty spot on. If you were in attendance, you know how full-on the weekend is. Constant meetings, miles of walking, hours of networking and tons of excitement about new products. It’s exhilarating, exciting and truly a fantastic experience! We had such a blast this time around. We loved meeting new designers, chatting with our customers and seeing all of the gorgeous booths boasting new fabric collections, trendy gadgets and expertly sewn and quilted pieces.

Were you following along throughout the weekend? Did you get to check out some of the photos? We’re including a little recap for you below, just in case;). I don’t know about you, but we might be scrolling back through the #quiltmarket stream on Instagram today — just can’t get enough!!

Pellon®
We have such a great team and couldn’t be more grateful for all that they did to make our booth in Minneapolis a success. They had fun, took care of business and got to meet loads of designers and customers. Lucky bunch! Among the designers pictured below: Christa Watson, Krista Hennebury, Rachel Clark, Kim Niedzwiecki, Linda Arye of Quilts for Kids, and Vanessa Lynch — special guest appearances by Wonder Woman and Batman (thanks Camelot!!).

Booths at Market:
Oh the beauty, the inspiration — there is nothing like a walk through the aisles of Market to get the creative juices flowing. Cloud9, Bari J, April Rhodes, Atkinson Designs, Pink Sand Beach Designs, Penguin & Fish, Alison Glass, Timeless Treasures, Around the Bobbin, Like Sew Websites, C&T Publishing… just a few of the spots we got to visit!

The extras — all sorts of loveliness:
From project tutorials right here on the Pellon® blog, to fabulous pins spotted on Instagram (woo hoo The Quilted Fish!) to an amazing Star Wars bag full of SF101 (gorgeous Melissa – @stillgonnashine!)

Thanks so much for following along with us. We’ll have more new projects and fun ideas for you soon and we’ll start the Houston Market countdown now!

Pellon® goes to Minneapolis

That’s right, it’s Quilt Market time!! Two times a year, we get to head to one of the industry’s biggest events… where companies, designers, educators and authors gather to share and talk about all of the wonderful new things that have developed. New fabric lines, handy gadgets, innovative patterns, and new product launches — it can be pretty exciting. Pellon® has a smaller booth than normal in Minneapolis, but it is jam-packed with greatness and we’re just as excited as always! For those of you not attending this weekend, we thought it only fair to give a little sneak peek into what’s happening, the products to watch out for and the projects that give them life.

Market-PellonBooth

Our booth — chock full of goodness!

Market-Batting

Legacy by Pellon® Batting is one of our staples. We are known for our quality and wide variety of fibers. Quilters nationwide prefer Legacy by Pellon®. Learn more on our website and visit your local quilt shop to grab some of your own! Looking for a little inspiration to get you started? Our website has a wide range of quilt projects that are completely free to download, like the Sunny Crib Quilt by Karin Jordan of Leigh Laurel Studios, pictured above.

Market-Interfacing

Pellon® interfacings have been around for over 50 years. They are the industry go-to and have become so well-known that many people use ‘Pellon’ to refer to interfacing in general, just as we may sometimes call a tissue a ‘Kleenex’. Over the years, our product line has expanded and we now offer a wide range of interfacings and stabilizers in the areas of Apparel, Crafts & Home Décor, Quilting, Fusible Webs & Adhesives and Embroidery. If you have a sewing project planned, we’ve got what you need to get that desired professional finish! Just look at the Mabel Vintage Handbag by Alicia Wietholter of Swoon Sewing Patterns. She used Peltex® to create that fantastic structure. The bag sample shown was sewn by Laurette Chandler.

Market-FiberFill

Whether you’re looking for a basic polyester fill, a latex fill or the softest, most luxurious fill you’ve ever worked with… we’ve got you covered;). Seriously – Perfect Loft® is a personal favorite. It was once described as feeling like a pile of sleeping kittens… no joke! The Reading Corner Pouf project above was created by us for Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores using our Basic Fill. It is a quick project that will add a little personality to a child’s room or even a classroom.

Market-Notions

Our packaged interfacings make everything more convenient. In a rush and need some SF101 to finish up a project? No problem! Run to your local Fabric & Craft store, hit the packaged notions aisle, grab what you need and head to the check-out. No more waiting in the cutting line! The Reversible Placements by Karin Jordan of Leigh Laurel Studios (pictured above) are a quick and easy project that can be made with a package of 987F!

Market-SpecialtyFabrics

We’ve been working on expanding our offerings and have added Fabric Magic® and Cheesecloth in the past few years. New for Market is our Muslin! Stay tuned for more on Muslin this afternoon;).

Market-FlexFoam

Last, but not least… it’s the Belle of the Ball: Flex-Foam™. It’s been out for 2 months, is just starting to gain wider distribution and is, by far, one of the most talked about new release stabilizers we’ve had. It seems everyone is looking for yardage and it’s no wonder… this product is, quite possibly, the perfect stabilizer for a wide variety of handbags. Flex-Foam™ is a lightweight sew-in stabilizer consisting of a layer of foam sandwiched between two layers of soft fabric.

The big Market news? We’ll have a fusible version of this fab product coming soon! Seriously, once you start using this, you’ll never want to use anything else!!

Grab some handbag inspiration over at Swoon Sewing Patterns. The bag pictured above is the Evelyn, expertly sewn using by Melissa Magruder. (Oh — and there really is Flex-Foam™ in there!!)

Need a little extra inspiration? These two bags are currently on display in our booth:

If you’re in Minneapolis, we’d love to see you! Swing on by the booth, check everything out in person, ask us anything! We are here for you!
