Machine Quilting with Style — Christa Watson

MQWS_bloghop

If you’ve been following along with the Machine Quilting with Style Blog Hop… you made it! We are one of the last stops on this incredibly inspiring quilting journey and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We’ve been oogling all of the featured quilts, checking out interviews, and reading reviews from the amazing bloggers and just feel so honored to be a small part of the action.

It was about 10 months ago that I first connected with Christa. She was well on her way with this book and impressed me immediately. She’d been introduced to Pellon® Batting by a friend and knew right away that she wanted to work with a few different varieties for the book. I love that she went straight for what I call our ‘specialty battings’ — the Soy Blend and the Wool. Both battings are simply terrific — completely different and both magnificent to work with.

Little did I know when we first spoke just how amazing this book would be. I’ll admit it… I’m not a quilter. Thus far, I’ve only made simple throw quilts. I’ve only recently started small things like table runners and have just cracked the surface on making my own binding. I have a free-motion foot, but I’ve never actually used it. Christa’s book makes me feel like so much more is possible. She does a wonderful job of breaking down all of the steps — which batting to use, how to select the right thread, how to lay everything out on your home machine, how to use the walking foot, how to free motion quilt… the list goes on. She even explains different types of stitches and techniques and when to use them. This book is such a must-have for beginners (like me!) and experienced quilters alike.

Today’s feature quilt on the Blog Tour is Focal Point. It is one of my favorites, which is fabulous since it’s one of the quilts that uses our Soy Blend batting. See below for Christa’s stunning work and make sure to visit Amy Garro over at 13spools.com for more quilty goodness.

Flex-Foam™ 2-Sided Fusible Tote

Our final guest post on the Fusible Flex-Foam blog tour comes from Pellon Project Designer Anjeanette Klinder. She was so excited about the product and could only think about how perfect it would be for a tote. She was particularly interested in using the Flex-Foam 2-Sided Fusible and she was right… it’s perfect!

Tote by Anjeanette Klinder

Anjeanette fused the Flex-Foam 2-Sided to both the exterior and the interior fabrics, did a bit of quilting to take advantage of the foam’s loft, and finished it all off with binding to cover the seams. We think it’s absolutely stunning! Head on over to her blog to read more about her process.

Grab-N-Go Changing Pad

The absolute best part about this little blog tour of ours is getting to see all of the different ways that designers are using our Fusible Flex-Foam™ products. From handbags to organizers, clutches to changing pads, zipper pulls to baskets… Wow!! You all are amazing:).

Today’s feature project comes from Lisa Swenson Ruble of Love to Color my World. A mom to three, Lisa is no stranger to the diaper bag and the sheer volume of things that get toted around on a day-today basis. When she first received the Flex-Foam samples, her mind went immediately to a Grab-N-Go Changing Pad — something small and stylish that could be used in place of a bag full of supplies. We love it and as a mom to a 2-year old with one on the way, I’m particularly smitten. I’ll absolutely be making one of these!!

To learn more about Lisa’s process and her thoughts about using the Flex-Foam 2-Sided Fusible, head on over to her blog. (Added bonus? she is also running a giveaway! )

The Ultimate Art Organizer

Today, we get to hang out with Sara of Sew Sweetness! If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know that Sara has been Pellon Project Designer for over 4 years. We just had to send her some samples of the new Fusible Flex-Foam to let her try it out, get her opinion and see what she could make with it. We are never, ever, disappointed when working with Sara;).

The Jackson Nap Mat

Have you been following along with the Fusible Flex-Foam™ Blog Tour? We’ve been having so much fun this week and have absolutely adored the new patterns and projects that have come from our fabulous line-up of bloggers. There are so many great uses for the Fusible Flex-Foam — we just know that this tour is only the tip of the iceberg. We’re truly looking forward to seeing what you all make!

FusibleFlexFoam-EBlast

Today, we’re showcasing a project of our own — a little preview actually, since the full project will be available on Tuesday on The Stitch (Hancock Fabrics’ Blog) — The Jackson Nap Mat. This one is a great ‘back-to-school’ project, though it’s really intended for kiddos who are daycare/preschool age. My daughter is 23 months old and just started a new daycare this week. She still takes one long nap in the middle of the afternoon and has been out of the pack-n-play and on her very own nap mat for a few months now. She loves it and gets excited that she has a place that is all her own to snuggle and snooze.

The Jackson Nap Mat - by Pellon Projects

Our second is on the way in November, a baby boy, and though it’s a little premature, I couldn’t help but craft this nap mat for him. The Flex-Foam™ provides just the right amount of cushion, the flannel fabrics create the cozy, the handy elastic closures make it super portable and the name appliqué makes it personal and unique. I’m a little bit in love with this one!

The Jackson Nap Mat - by Pellon Projects
