Mabel Vintage Handbag

The lovely Alicia Wietholter of Swoon Patterns has done it again! Just 2 weeks after her first Pellon Projects pattern release, she’s got a brand new pattern with a style befitting of a real Throwback Thursday. 😉 (#tbt) The Mabel Vintage Handbag would look just as natural in an old Ingrid Bergman or Audrey Hepburn movie as it would dangling from the arm of a modern fashionista.

We are in love with the samples sewn by Alicia’s dedicated pattern testers — a true testament to how fabric selection can change the overall feeling of a project. What patterns would you use to make this bag your own?

About Alicia:
aliciawietholter-swoonI’m a graphic designer by trade and fell in love with sewing many years ago. I think it was a natural path for me to mesh the two and start drafting my own sewing patterns. There’s nothing I like sewing together more than bags, so that’s mostly what I do! I am not much for frills, ruffles, or an obvious “homemade” look (much to the dismay of my 7 year old), so my patterns create bags that are simple, clean and easily modified by the advanced bag-maker.

I love your bags…especially the Mabel vintage handbag. I have the instructions that I printed out, but I was wondering if you have a youtube channel? I am a more visual person and I always do better if I can see it being made in person. If you have a youtube channel please email me back so I can watch how to put this bag together.

Hi Sarah! Thanks so much for checking in! I don’t think that Alicia has a YouTube channel, but I forwarded your comment along to her in case she can help in any other ways. Best of luck with the bag! I’d love to see it when you’re all finished:). Happy Sewing!
