Monday Madness!! (6/4)

Can you believe it’s already June? June 4th, to be exact, which means we’re now at the 16 day countdown until the first day of summer (June 20)! This particular Pellon® gal has been caught in an ongoing downpour since Saturday morning with no hope of reprieve for at least 3 more days. Here’s hoping the rest of you are basking in some sort of late-Spring sunshine, lounging next to a garden of flowers with a light breeze on your face. *sigh* Bliss.

All talk of the impending Summer season aside, it’s time for another Monday Madness Giveaway!

This month, we’re thrilled to introduce you to a brand new product in the Pellon® line. Crafters, Sewers & Quilters… meet Fabric Magic™.

How, you might ask, would you go about using this product? For the answer, let’s take a look at a textured pillow. You would first want to cut your piece of Fabric Magic™ to match the size of your fabric. Sew the Fabric Magic™ to the wrong side of your fabric using any stitch pattern you’d like, be it simple or decorative. Lay on a flat surface (preferably an ironing board, or a pad on a hard surface.) Apply steam. Watch your fabric magically crinkle, creating a gorgeous textured piece.

This finished example was on display at our booth at Spring Quilt Market in Kansas City:

It uses a printed fabric block from the Daydreams collection designed by Stephanie Brandenburg for Camelot Cottons.

The Fabric Magic™ was stitched to the fabric block to match and enhance the pattern, after which steam was applied to achieve the gorgeous results.

A little more about Fabric Magic™:
– Shrinks fabric up to 30% to add texture and dimension to projects
– Quick and easy to use
– Results are permanent and will last through laundering
– Washer and Dryer safe
– 100% Polyester

The product retails in various sizes, but today, we are giving away 1 package containing a 30″ x 1 yard piece. And, just because we love sharing the love, we’re adding in 2 yards of our new 300 thread count fabric!

Pellon® 300 Thread Count Fabrics:
– Soft and supple in sophisticated colors to coordinate with your home décor
– Made with deluxe 100% natural long staple Indian Cotton
– Machine wash warm. Tumble dry low or dry clean.
– Available in black, white, brick, gold, wine, taupe, ivory, brown, spa blue, & kiwi green

The contest winner can choose to have 2 yards in 1 color OR 1 yard each of 2 different colors.

I would make some dimensional appliques to attach to a bag. I think it would have some real possibilities for a great design.

I’ve wanted to try this before and am happy to see it’s part of the Pellon line now. I had thought it would be a great product to use on the front of a purse or even on a portion of a baby quilt for the texture.

I think I’d try a pillow first to get the feel of the product. It’s very interesting, especially for free style projects! Be blessed, Kathy

I get the blog delivered by email – the best way to follow!!! I like the idea of a wall hanging… so many possibilities!!! Thanks for the chance!

I love this product & have used it in making different bags & also plan to use it on some wall art I’m doing.

I would use it to make a textured section on a fabulous purse. Thanks for the chance to win the fabric & Fabric Magic!

  9. Jennie Bobbins says:

I’d love to see what it would do for a skirt. Especially using a solid fabric and my favorite skirt pattern, I bet it would be neat!

Purses, definitely. I have two packages I won as door prizes at a quilt show that I’ve been saving for inspiration. The floral pillow is gorgeous. I have some floral drapery fabric I will use for my purse. The flowers are about 3″ in diameter, so I should be able to get several crinkled for a large handbag front and use the fabric uncrinkled for the back and straps.

I would LOVE to make a pillow like the one you showed us; it’s fabulous! Your new 300 ct. fabrics would so much fun to try. Thanks for the giveaway.
