This quilt has been on our site for only a week and it’s already been getting lots of attention. The designer, Cheryl, is the author of the popular sewing blog, Sew Can Do. When she first came to us with this idea, she described a project that would have a quilt block border comprised of various colorful prints framing a central design of an appliquéd raincloud. There would be large, colorful raindrops splashing onto an giant appliquéd umbrella. We never could have imagined that the project itself would be even more fabulous than what we envisioned. Cheryl was excited about using a variety of Pellon® products and ended up using a staggering total of 6!
We were most impressed with Cheryl’s use of Pellon® 2520 Lutradur®. She chose to feature it as an accent fabric for the raindrops alongside the accompanying fabric in colorful patterns. If you’re not already familiar, Lutradur® is a 100% polyester spun bonded non-woven translucent web. It is the perfect medium for crafting, sewing, quilting and scrap booking. It can be sewn, drawn, painted and printed on. To learn more, head here.
We heard that this was only Cheryl’s second quilt ever, so we’re looking forward to seeing more from her in the future!!
