We {heart} Shorts!

Have you been following along with Shorts on a Line? The month-long extravaganza launched at the beginning of July and we’ve been immersed in that fabulous go-to Summer staple ever since. It’s really and all out celebration of the short shorts, the daisy dukes, the short pants, the rompers, the clam-diggers, the trunks, the tiny pants, the culottes, the capris, & the waders. (What am I missing??) The event is being hosted by 3 fabulous blogs, starting at week 1 with Imagine Gnats, moving onto Small + Friendly for week 2 and Designs by Sessa for week 3. Since it’s actually 95˚ here in Maine today (yes, really!) I can’t think of much else other than shorts (and wishing that we had a pool, of course!) So, without further pause, how about a little shorts eye-candy to kick off your Summer weekend!

note: You’ll likely notice the hosting blogs and the names Rachael, Vanessa and Carla quite a bit below… That’s mostly because the three lovelies have a pinterest board dedicated to shorts! Check it out here.

Summer Lovin’

Wednesday June 20th marked the very first day of Summer. The sunny season made a grand entrance up and down the Eastern seaboard, hitting 90˚ even all the way up in Maine. It’s a lofty temp for so early in the season, but it certainly threw us all right into that fabulous Summer planning mode… thinking of new outdoor activities, plotting summer projects, dreaming of lazy days by the pool;). With that in mind, I couldn’t think of a better theme for this week’s Pinterest round-up than the brightly colored, fabulously vibrant scenes of Summer. Here’s hoping there’s something that inspires you. What are you Summer plans? Vacation? New projects? We want to know!

Bags, Bags, Bags

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love a good handbag ALL the time (every minute of every day? I might be a little obsessed.) but this month in particular, I LOVE a good handbag. Why? Because of Sew Sweetness’s Purse Palooza, that’s why! Have you been following along? I love checking out all of the different pattern reviews, seeing what materials the designers use and what fabric pairings they favor. I was particularly pleased with Sara’s kick off post which was all about bag interfacing, a post that caused quite a stir! How could it not with that lead image:).

And so, in honor of Purse Palooza 2012, this week’s Pinterest love is all about bags. Yes, I know I’ve done one with bags before, but hey, did I mention I have a bit of a bag problem?;) What your bag obsession?

Weekend DIY

One of my absolute favorite things about Pinterest, beyond having the ability to share and admire beautiful things, is the access to more DIY project inspiration than I could ever hope for. I’ve been on a huge DIY kick lately, crafting some washi-tape vases, a quick and easy summer dress, and even my very first quilt. Part of the allure of these DIY darlings is that I get the satisfaction of making something by hand without the insanely long time commitment. For this reason, I’ve decided to dedicate this week’s Pinterest post to a series of Weekend DIY projects. It’s about sewing, crafting, and in one case, even baking because let’s face it… very few of us only identify with one;).

Which project will you make first? I’m angling for the stuffed bowling set!

Happy Weekend!!

We Love Moms!

Happy Friday and welcome to ‘with love from… Pinterest’ the ‘We Love Our Moms!’ edition;). This Sunday, May 13, we celebrate Mothers, Moms, Mums, Mommies, & Mamas. We put those amazing women on the prettiest, most glorious pedestals we can possibly find and from sunrise to sunset, we tell them how much we love them. Whether you’re sending all your love to your own mom, your grandma, your sister, your best friend, or your step-mom you want to make her feel amazing. Or perhaps you’re a mom and all you can think about is wanting a day to yourself… to create, to relax and to enjoy life. Whatever the case, we hope that the images below inspire a little creativity for the day.

We applaud you. We love you. We are thankful. Happy Mother’s Day!!

Home Accessories

A fabulous set of table toppers can spruce up a dining room just as custom curtains can liven up a living space. Home Accessories are all the rage in DIY these days and we can see why! We’re personally lusting after the blue & orange pouf. What will your next home project be?

It’s Friday! Plenty of time for weekend crafting:). Have fun!!

Fabulous Fabrics

What is it about a beautifully spun, lucious & lovely fabric that gets us all swoony and faint? Is it the feel of cotton? The softness of a worn linen? The crispness of a canvas? Is it the bright pops of color? The patterns as works of art? There is something about beautiful fabrics that we crafters are just drawn to. The source of our inspiration and basis for our creations, a fabric can convey a style or a mood with a single glance. This week’s post is dedicated to just a few of the fabulous fabrics I’ve seen this week. Which ones are your favorites? Do you know what fabric you’ll use for your next project?

This week it’s all about bags! It’s where your store your things… your on-the-go home-away-from-home. It’s for your toiletries, your wallet & keys, your babe’s diapers & wipes, your eyeglasses, your iPad, your Kindle, your sketching supplies, your… well, you get the point;). A few days late? Phooey;). We’ve been busy being inspired all of our fabulous finds on Pinterest. What in the world did we do before that site existed? Need a headband tutorial? Done. Looking to check out the new Lotta Jansdotter fabric line? It’s on there. Hoping to see what’s up at Joann’s this month? They’ve been pinning too!

Today, we’re focusing on children’s clothing. From tutorials to finished pieces, these little frocks and rompers are all over Pinterest. No time like the present to grab your favorite and make your little darling a special outfit to celebrate Spring. Take a peek, and have fun! (Oh – and we’re trying out a new photo layout this week courtesy of Pugly Pixel. Yay or Nay?)

With Love From…

This particular Pellon® gal works out of a home office and I have to admit that I’ve been staring at my office walls for the past few weeks, trying my best to figure out how to make this room look amazing. It’s always such a challenge to design a functional office space that can double as a craft room. Either way, it should look and feel inspiring, right? The questions are endless: bright colors or muted? Wall-mounted storage or free-standing shelving? Fabric stash on display or tucked away? I’m sure that each and every one of you has a space designated for your crafty projects… a space that, however big or small, is just your own. So, this week’s post is dedicated to crafty spaces. We want to know… what would YOUR space look like?

With Love From…

Though it’s actually been around for a few years, Pinterest now seems to be the ‘it’ social media outlet for 2012. An endless source of inspiration, the site has become a daily destination for so many crafters, sewers and quilters. We love scrolling through to peek at newly constructed quilts, fun patterns, new fabrics and more. It’s a great resource and if you’re not already ‘pinning’ we’d highly encourage you to check it out! If you don’t currently have an account and need an invite, comment on this post with a way for us to get in touch and we’ll send one to you. If you’re already pinning and want to share your boards with other readers, post your info in the comments. AND If you’re wondering what we’re up to, you can follow us here.

With all the hype, we couldn’t help but present a weekly round-up. We’ve been so inspired by the things we’ve seen, it seems like a shame to keep the images to ourselves. So… every Friday, you can expect a whole lot of awesome. With love, from Pinterest;).
